k10 studio’s project overlooks ostional beach in costa rica

K10 studio embodies a low-tech industrial design concept in this 175 sqm beach house, perched on a hill overlooking Ostional Beach in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Its simple and functional composition frames panoramic ocean views and fosters a connection with its surroundings. The ground floor features an open-plan living area that connects to an infinity pool, oriented perpendicular to the house to dramatize the view, create a projection towards the ocean, and invite nature inside.

infinity pool transforms into an extra living space

Designed with three different depth levels and equipped with sitting and resting areas, the pool adapts to various needs, transforming into an extra living space. Symmetrically aligned with the house, it offers a tranquil retreat to unwind and enjoy the experience. The Ostional Guesthouse by K10 studio showcases simple yet elegant design elements, such as carefully selected mosaic tiles that stand out with their geometric patterns and color contrasts. The architects choose minimalistic industrial raw finishes, featuring concrete, steel, and teak wood, to create a striking contrast with the surrounding nature.

low-tech beach guesthouse allows use by multiple guests

The second level comprises two master bedrooms and one kids’ bedroom, each with balconies overlooking the ocean and jungle. The segmented bathrooms are highly functional and designed for rental purposes to allow simultaneous use by multiple guests. The design emphasizes functionality and comfort, creating an inviting and unpretentious space that maintains a strong connection with nature. This project carefully balances building size, budget, quality, and user experience, resulting in a harmonious and inviting retreat.
