testa dei marmi embodies sculptural heritage of marble

At Alcova during Milan Design Week, Berenice Curt Architecture unveils its sculpture series, Testa Dei Marmi, at the historic Villa Borsani. Inspired by the crown ceramic Testa Di Moro, the works deliver a reinterpretation of that which has adorned Sicilian balconies for centuries. The 001tdm artworks embody the sculptural heritage of natural resources by reclaiming marble waste through conscientious object design inspired by myths and land art. The faces, anonymous and androgynous with equivocal expressiveness, have been crafted by Tuscan artisans and are presented on a cluster of steles that infuse figurative and spatial interventions at different scales across the space.

berenice curt’s exhibition evokes floating heads

The Testa Dei Marmi exhibition adopts an approach personal to Berenice Curt across their architectural projects extending into the realm of art, standing as a monument to the origins of the use of these marbles and their social dimension. 001tdm sculptures offer a range of scenarios through the interplay of materiality and composition. Slightly larger than a human head, they have been cut and drilled into slabs of thick marble, giving them a full-bodied presence. Each piece is selected for its unique veining and color from among thirteen types of marble collected over the past three years on construction sites and Italian quarries. They rest atop polished stainless steel steles, with reflective surfaces that create a sense of disappearance and levitation for the artworks.
