superlimão transforms a 90's house in brazil into a red retreat for yoga

from a 90’s home to a yoga studio, architects superlimão elevate a meditative project that stands out in the streets of são paulo, brazil. with a layered façade covered in red, former residence provides space for classes, a reception area, co-working and rental rooms. from and through the playful staircase to the generous openings, the choreographed lighting fills the interior making it ideal for the mental and physical practice to take place.

the revisited old house by brazil-based architects superlimão breathes new life as a yoga and contemplation retreat decorated in warm and cozy tones. in terms of reconfiguration, the more spiritual purpose of the project demanded larger spans to allow more sunlight to flow in filtered in turn by jute panels. for a continuation of harmony between light, structure and nature, a garden outside conveys a calming and soothing environment blending together the harsh metal with the soft earthy tones. the welcoming feel outdoors is heightened with light-colored walls and curved corners.

the protagonistic metallic and perforated staircase of the façade gives the project its distinctive look. repositioned from inside to out for optimal circulation and room arrangement, the important element of the project receives a lighter and redder style. the intriguing design is enhanced with the replacement of the existing frames into metallic ones creating an expressive yet ethereal atmosphere all around.
