Koichi Futatsumata, the founder of the architectural practice CASE-REAL, has designed the Spindle, a sleek coat rack that gently sways when a coat or other item of clothing hangs on it. The stand is a special creation commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fashion brand FUJITO, reflecting the designer’s expertise in product design, architecture, and interiors. The design features a steel rod extending from a generous granite base, with a round, disk-like wooden element completing the ensemble.

a sleek and practical piece for your coat 

Drawing on their close friendship, Futatsumata and FUJITO‘s designer collaborated closely on the Spindle project. The inspiration for this piece arose from casual discussions about creating a clothing-related product. Fujito’s idea to integrate natural materials, such as stone, sparked the concept. Futatsumata imagined a rounded river stone, mirroring Fujito’s laid-back lifestyle and design philosophy. The result is a functional and elegant item that creates a gentle circular motion while maintaining the sense of weight, stability, roundness, and smoothness of its materials.
